Miss Richardella's Remarks
As the building principal for Pleasant Valley Elementary school, my vision is to motivate, inspire and transform the 500 plus children enrolled.
As the building leader, it is my job to foster a culture of discipline and to attend to the details. I will foster a relentless pursuit of excellence at Pleasant Valley. I will expect excellence from my teaching staff and in return teachers can effectively deliver the written curriculum to our students in a thorough and efficient manner.
As a highly performing elementary school, Pleasant Valley demonstrates leadership, professionalism and teaming. The 2009 PSSA scores are a result of academic engagement through Differentiated instruction for ALL students. Differentiated instruction requires a clear understanding of what students need to know and be able to do and an awareness of the variety of learning needs within a classroom.
My goal is to have each and every Pleasant Valley student feel supported and valued while learning both the written curriculum along with manners, responsibility, reliability, dependability, self- discipline, self esteem and perseverance.
The 2009-10 school year will begin on a positive note with the success of our PSSA scores for grades 3-6.
PV earned the highest Reading and Math PSSA scores in the district!
Reading Grades 3-6
ALL students 79% Proficiency
AYP expectation 63%
Math Grades 3-6
ALL Students 89% Proficiency
AYP expectation 56%
Science Grade 4
92% Proficiency
I will continue to monitor student achievement, student attendance and student safety.
"Your rewards in life are always in direct proportion to your contribution."
Respectfully,
Susan Richardella
Principal
